As a former Hilliardite, I have had my hair cut by Ken for thirty years. We had vivid discussions about the good old days in Hillyard. Ken and I are only a few months different in age, so we knew a lot of the same people. I remember the barber shop being owned by Mr.Gri, who walked by our house every day going to work. I will miss Ken's sense of humor and our discussions about Alaska.

"Did you hear about the 3 guys that walked into the bar?"
He became a friend the first time I walked through his door.

Andy and I were honored to travel to Hawaii to be with Ken and Heather when they were married. Ken, Andy, and I were friends for many years and went on several hunting trips together in the Blue Mountains. Our boys, Tracy and Rod loved Ken as he always gave the a bad time about their haircuts and clothes they were wearing! Ken was a great friend to Andy while he was battling cancer also and would go to the VA and cut his hair while he was undergoing chemo. What a great guy and what a loss to all of his friends!

I will always remember Ken, he was my barber since the mid 70's before moving up to Hillyard when he worked out in the Spokane Valley at U-City Mall. He always had a smile on his face and loved joking around. As a young boy, he would always ask me why I let my mother dress me like she did, and it used to drive me crazy! My Mom and Dad accompanied Ken and Heather to Hawaii when they got married. Ken and my father went on a wild boar hunt while on the islands and I believe that is the only reason Ken and Heather were able to convince my father into going to Hawaii! Ken went on numerous deer, elk and moose hunting trips with my Dad. I will truly miss Ken's laughter and smiling face. I'm glad to be able to consider him a friend and have known him for the last 40 plus years!
