Kevin TERRIS Obituary

Spokane – Kevin A. Terris, a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, died at age 79 on August 11, 2022, at his Spokane home. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Kevin came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. He was born March 15, 1943, in Spokane, the son of John and Donna (Bonner) Terris.

Kevin graduated from WV High School after attending St. Martin's Senior High, class of 1961. Following graduation, he studied at Columbia Basin, class of 1963. Shortly after, Kevin married his beautiful bride, Paula Rogers, and settled in Spokane where they celebrated 52 amazing years of marriage. The two met at a high school dance shortly after a football game where Kevin was the field goal kicker. His career path led him to becoming the Manager at USF Reddaway, where he retired. He was an avid and competitive golfer alongside his adoring wife, Paula, had a passion for rebuilding classic cars, especially his forest-green '51 Chevy, and lovingly volunteered his time working at elementary schools in support of struggling youths.

Kevin always left people rolling in laughter with his humorous comments and humorously competitive attitude while playing backyard games with family, even during his medical struggles. During his last days, he remained passionate about his cookies and cream and continued sending heart-felt cards to his children and grandchildren who adored him, never missing a birthday. The simplest pleasures in life, like sitting by the crystal, blue pool and fireplace in his well-groomed backyard, sipping a glass of wine with his loving family and friends, brought great joy to Kevin. When driving his truck became a challenge due to his medical condition, he persevered by hopping in his golf cart to visit his special friend, Johna along with her pets, Suki and Buzz, just a few blocks away. They, too, absolutely adored Kevin.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Paula, and brother, Keith. Surviving are his daughters Teresa Terris-Johnson, of Spokane, Lisa Sofie and her husband Travis, of Lake Stevens, Traci Naccarato and her husband, Mike, of Otis Orchards; son Kevin Terris, Jr. and his wife Jody, of Ritzville; eight grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Justin Johnson, Bradley Sofie, Cole Sofie, Jenna Naccarato, Mikayla Naccarato, Trevor Terris, Johnna Terris; one brother, John (Jack) Terris, Hayden Lake; special friend, Johna Packebush, Spokane.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, September 24 at the Spokane Valley Event Center, 10514 E. Sprague Ave., Spokane Valley from 2:00-4:30. Interment will be at Pines Mausoleum, 12116 E. 16th, Spokane Valley, where Kevin and Paula will be together again. Those who wish to, can send flowers to Spokane Valley Event Center on September 24th. Those who wish to remember Kevin in a special way may make gifts in his memory to St. John Vianney Church, 503 N. Walnut Rd., Spokane Valley.

March 15, 2023, I just called Kevin to see if we could get together when I got in town this Friday and found his phone disconnected. Sadly and with much regret I had no idea he passed last August. He was one of my best friends for 50 years. I tied to see a couple times over the past couple year's and he declined due to health issues. I have special memories of him and Paula and their kids before the kids grew up. I will miss his laugh and his joy of life. He was a very special man and he so loved his family and friends.

I met Kevin when he was working for USF Reddaway, he used to call on us when we an issue with freight. Kevin was a great representative of the company, his friendly attitude and smile made it easy to like him. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace Kevin.
