How do we fill the Mimi-sized hole left in our hearts? It seems impossible, and yet I know your answer. You fill it with love, with beauty, with joy-absurd silliness.
You fill it with poetry and good books. You fill it with slow walks through a museum, with art in all its forms.
You fill it by gathering the people you love around a table, sharing good food and maybe just a bit too much wine.
You fill it by caring for your neighbors and listening well. You fill it with prayer and reverence for the holy goodness that surrounds us.
You fill it by paying attention to the small details, appreciating simplicity.
You fill it with signs held high, marching for justice and equality.
You fill it by living into your own uniqueness, without apology.
You fill it with truth, even if it is hard to hear or say.
You fill it with belly laughs and an occasional good prank or two.
You fill it with people you love, always adding more along the way.
How will we ever fill the Mimi-sized hole you have left in our hearts?
It seems impossible, but each day we will look for your way.
The lessons you taught us so well.
Rest in peace dear mama. We know you're dancing in heaven.

Dearest Lugnut, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I recall what a kind and wonderful woman she was. I loved her obituary. Sending you and your family hugs. Pluto
