Linda PETERSON Obituary

PETERSON, Linda Marie
(Muzatko) (Age 62)

Our beloved wife, mother, sister and nana passed away peacefully before sunrise on Monday June 11th, 2012 at the Hospice House of Spokane. She fought a long and courageous battle with cancer for nearly four years.
Born on May 20, 1950 to the late Martha and Alexander Muzatko, she was one of 10 children, Don (Kit), Jack (Lillian), Marianne (Jake), Edward (Darlene), Alice (Dennis), James (Melanie), Suzanne (Frank), Deborah (Dan), Chuck (Barbara) in a family full of love and boisterous gatherings. She had many wonderful memories with them from family reunions on the Oregon Coast, Fourth of July's on Loon Lake, fun filled Christmas celebrations and crazy adventures with her sisters.
A 1968 graduate of Marycliff, she went on to get her Nursing Degree from Washington State University where she was a member of the rally squad. For 35 years, she was a devoted pediatric nurse at Rockwood as well as a childbirth educator for the Northside Women's Clinic. Later in her career, she helped establish the regional Pediatric After Hours call center through Sacred Heart Medical Center. She was also involved in the creation of spaces of comfort and fun for children at the Sacred Heart Children's Hospital. Her love of children and her devotion to her calling energized her to continue working through the rigorous cancer treatments of the past few years. Her strength to do this still amazes us, as she quietly fought her battle.
In addition to her nursing career, she and her husband Jim also owned and operated Silver City Lumber in Montana and Silver City Timber in Washington.
On July 10th, 1971, she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Peterson. She was immensely proud of her three children, Corey (Mary), Rebecca (Brian), and Nick. She was also the cherished Nana to Harley, Connor, Max, Eleanor and Harper. She had a gift for creating magic in their lives and will not be forgotten and will be desperately missed. Although she left us far too soon, we find comfort in the love of family she left behind.
She was also a part of a wonderful group of friends known far and wide as the Ram and Ewes. Through 30 years of friendship they have traveled together, laughed together and supported each other. This was especially true in the last few years.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 16th at 11:00 A.M. at S. Joseph Parish in Colbert, WA 3720 E. Colbert Road, where she was a parishioner for 38 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Transitions Gate (transitionsgate.org), an organization dedicated to helping disadvantaged women and children in Romania.

My sincerest sympathies to all who loved Linda. I met her 5 months ago during the vaccine study at Rockwood. I last saw her at the beginning of June. I had no idea she was sick. She was so full of energy and life. She always spoke of her grandkids. you just knew they were the light of her life. The world cries because we lost her, the heavens sing because they gained her. She is looking over all her loved ones now as an angel. I missed you today at Rockwood Linda. I missed your smile and your outgoing personality. May god bless you and yours. All my love

Dear Jim, Corey, Rebecca, and Nick,
Linda was one of those very special people who, no matter how infrequently you encountered her, made you feel as though you were best friends. Her sparkling eyes and habitual smile were beacons of the genuine warmth and love in her heart. Her enthusiasm for life was infectious, and even the most chance meeting with her left you uplifted. Having you, her three children, in high school classes was a daily reminder of the love she invested in you and the influence she had on your lives.
Each of you and your families are in my heart daily as you adjust to life without her, confidant that the legacy of her love will give you strength.
Love, Paddy Inman

I had the privaledge of working with Linda as well as participating in a study on the patient side. She was always a wonderful listener and such a sweet lady - I actually looked forward to my appointments (despite getting poked for blood draws!). May God's love and peace surround you during this painful time.

I worked with Linda as her monitor on a Novartis trial for over a year and half. Linda was an amazing woman and I will miss her greatly.

Linda was an awesome friend - so warm and giving. She was Alex's other mom for many years and he has so many wonderful memories of time with the Peterson clan. She will be deeply missed by us all!

What a beautiful lady! Even though I only befriended Linda professionally a few years back, she always took a moment to share a little about her family, her struggle with treatment, and the joys of her career as a nurse. Linda gave her all in taking care of my children, in return I took care of her at Holy Family. Linda was a true inspiration to me as a nurse - I will miss her dearly!

I worked research with Linda at Rockwood Clinic. Work was never really work around her. We played with kids and had tons of fun while getting paid. It was my honor and privilege to have known her.
To her family... you all were her entire world. She loved you so much. She used to tell me stories about her vacations, the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and her spouse. I hope that your memories will bring you some comfort to your broken hearts.
Rest in peace beautiful lady. We will see you soon.

To my sweet Aunt Linda. I have had so many wonderful memories with you. Memories I will cherish in my heart forever. Not only are you one of the strongest people I know, you are also one of the most loving, caring and giving people too. From crazy family reunions to nutty Christmas get togethers to just sitting with you on the beach, talking about life, those times with you were always cherished. You always held a very special place in my heart. I love you so much and I will see you again someday. I can only imagine what your lake home looks like in heaven, but make sure it's big enough to hold this big, crazy family when it's our time. A lifetime supply of ding dongs would be good too. :) Love you with all of my heart.
