Linda PITT Obituary
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of beloved mom and grandma, Linda Rae Pitt (Tumlinson), age 76. Due to complications from C.O.P.D., September 29, 2024, at Deaconess in Spokane, with devoted daughter Shelly, by her side, she took her final breath.
Linda was born March 23, 1948, at St. Lukes, in Spokane, WA, to young, loving parents, Bill R. and Jeannine E. (Carlson) Tumlinson (both deceased). Her childhood included get togethers in the backyard swimming pool; friend, Jean Bell; working with her younger sister, Karolee (Jepson) (deceased), in the family restaurant, "Little Poncho's"; and family trips to The National Parks. She cherished quiet times with grandma, Zelma Tumlinson, and fun-filled stays at grandma, Eva Carlson's. Linda attended Shadle Park and North Central High School, where she met James O. Pitt. While married, she gave birth to their three girls, Tiffaney, Shelly, and Kristey. As a 24-year-old single parent, she selflessly dedicated her life to raising her daughters; they wanted for nothing, especially love. She was a fierce protector, and their safety and security were always her top priority. Her circle expanded to include son-in-law, Bart, and his daughter Glory, but her pride and joy were her granddaughters, Crystal and Makayla, whom she was extremely close to and adored. A new great-grandma; she took such pleasure in holding baby Brayden.
Linda attended Spokane Community College, to pursue data entry with The Bureau of Mines, and volunteered with the Sheriff's Department. She was a published author who used her poetry and writing to advocate for local wildlife, address social issues, and praise her community, family, and faith. Linda, belonged to the Shadle Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, and had a firm belief in the promise of a resurrection; a favorite scripture being, Revelation 21: 3-4. When she wasn't corresponding with her dear friend Lorraine Hill, or reading her bible, she liked Western novels. She was an ace with arts and crafts, and a whiz with a crochet hook, creating original items to sell. She enjoyed quilting, word search and jigsaw puzzles, playing Yahtzee, Boggle and meeting her mom at Grandma Eva's for an afternoon of Scrabble. In better health, she was in a bowling league, loved singing and dancing to her "oldies", and trips along the Oregon Coast. Linda gave generously to and cared deeply for her entire family; maintaining a special bond with her parents throughout their lives.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Tiffaney K. Osborne, Shelly R. Pitt, and Kristey J. Danielson (Bart); granddaughters, Crystal L. Osborne, Makayla M. Osborne; great-grandson, Brayden; nephew, Kelly Dierks; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to Aunt Doris Carlson. Services provided by PNW Cremation. A private celebration of Linda's life will be held at a future date.
