(Age 71)
Lori passed away on July 11, 2025, at Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House.
Lori Blessing was born on August 22, 1953, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. From an early age, she was recognized for her remarkable strength, abilities, and compassion. Lori was the second of four children born to Joyce Mylan Peters and George Peters. Later, when Joyce married George Borges, Lori gained another brother.
Among her siblings, Lori naturally emerged as the leader - always the one to devise plans and organize adventures. Along with her spirited leadership, she demonstrated a nurturing side, consistently caring for the youngest children.
Lori excelled in countless areas, making it difficult to name them all. She was described as smart, talented and beautiful! She was a gifted and creative cook, able to transform basic ingredients into delicious, nourishing meals. As a skilled seamstress, she crafted her own prom dresses and even her wedding dress.
Many friends and family remember Lori stepping in at the last minute to alter bridesmaids' dresses or special occasion gowns. Whether it was gardening, interior decorating, or other household tasks, Lori's creative vision was evident in every corner of her home and yard.
Determined to fulfill a lifelong goal, Lori returned to college at the age of 40 and completed her degree. She went on to teach Consumer Science and Chemistry at Coeur d'Alene High School for 10 years. Later, she melded her artistic talent with her scientific interests, becoming an award-winning kiln-formed glass artist. For the last 20 years, she balanced creating her art with managing her husband Bob's CPA firm.
Above all, Lori cherished her family. She and her husband, Bob, were married for 49 years - though Lori liked to say it was 51, counting every year they spent together. Together, they had three rambunctious children who filled their lives with pride and joy, as well as five beloved grandchildren. Lori and Bob hosted every family gathering and treasured time spent camping and adventuring with their children and grandchildren.
Lori was truly a force of nature, known for boundless energy, creativity, and a deep love for her family. Though her absence is deeply felt, there is comfort in knowing she lived a life she loved and left behind countless cherished memories. She is survived by her husband, Bob; her children: Chris (Kim) Blessing, Tara (Josh) Bright, and Mike (Ashley) Blessing; grandchildren: Jonne Larson, Kaleb Blessing, Rianna Blessing, Damien Blessing, and Adelynn Blessing; her sisters, Suzanne Peters and Angi (Patrick) Shamblin; and her brother, James Knowles.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to those who supported them during Lori's final days, especially her cousins, Marcia Bingham, Linda Skogen, and Shari Wilhelm, as well as the compassionate staff at Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House.
A graveside service was held for family at St. Thomas Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at 4:00PM, Monday, July 21, 2025, at McEuen Park's Avista Pavilion (420 E. Front Ave., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 83814). Please consider making a donation to the Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House in Lori's memory
