Marge KERWIN Obituary

Marge (Margaret) Eleanor Kerwin passed away peacefully at her home on December 21, 2021. With her passing, our lives got a lot less interesting. She is survived by her husband, Bruce, her brother, Tom Keating, her five children and step-children, Guy Letendre, Gay Marie Bone, Tina Poirier, Debbie Kerwin, Dev Letendre, and ten grandchildren.

Marge was born on April 18, 1941, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. After graduating high school, Marge's adventurous spirit took her to the West coast where she started a family and a career helping others as a Registered Nurse.

Marge had a spirit for adventure and an interminable passion for helping others. She combined these two qualities into a life full of helping people from all walks of life in all corners of the world. Her career as a Registered Nurse started at Deaconess Hospital and included volunteering as a firefighter for Spokane County District 8. Marge then moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where she worked as a nurse in King Faisal Specialist Hospital for 7 years. In Riyadh she met her adventure accomplice, counterpart, and husband, Bruce Kerwin. Together, they worked, lived, and traveled throughout the world. Marge served as an Embassy Nurse in Latvia and the Philippines as well as volunteering countless hours for organizations while living in Haiti and Kuwait.

Marge and Bruce eventually settled down to her beloved Spokane where she worked as a medical case manager until she retired. Marge was very proud to belong and serve with the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) as chapter President and Vice President for over 26 years. Through her efforts, the local chapter supported St. Margaret's shelter with many donations. As a member of The Assistants, she was passionate about the Bite To Go program and organized their support of students at Brown Elementary with weekend meals. As a quilter, she loved joining trips to Leavenworth and Twin Lakes. She didn't finish many quilts but had a grand time with the process. Her favorite group was a cabal of ladies she found in Riga Latvia. The "Riga Girls" met every year in Europe and discussed everything under the sun while sipping whatever wine was the best in their town. Along with Bruce and dear friends, Marge continued her adventurous and helpful ways until her last day, and she will be missed by all.

Marge is preceded in death by her father, Howard, her mother, Eleanor, and her sisters, Anne and Katherine.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM, January 17, 2022, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Spokane. Marge will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in the Fall of 2022. Donations can be sent to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Spokane, Washington.

I was lucky to spend time this summer in New Hampshire with Bruce & Marge at one of "the Grands" graduations. Truly a life of adventure and direction, I am so grateful for her partnership with my Father Bruce, our lives are better for having had Marge walking with him.
