SMITH, Marjorie G.

Marjorie G. Smith of Hayden, Idaho, formally from Rosalia and Tekoa, Wa passed away on June 2, 2011.
She was born June 19, 1922 to Claude and Bena McCoy and raised on the Pioneer family farm in Rosalia.
Marge graduated from Rosalia High School and attended college in Cheney, Wa. In 1947 she married Harry Smith and in 1955 they settled in Tekoa, Wa and began farming.
Marge was a 50 year member of the Tekoa Grange. She was also a member of the Tekoa Community Church and enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher and enrolling children in the church's Cradle Roll program. To the kids she enrolled she was "Grandma".
An active member of the Palouse Empire Fair Marge served on the board and was the Superintendent of the Veggie Dept.
Most recently she was an advocate for new residents at the Sylvan House where she resided and was always upbeat and positive no matter the situation. She also spent her time writing stories of her life and different family history.
She is survived by her daughter Juanita and husband Bob of Hayden and son Cliffton and wife Nancy of Tekoa as well as four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, a son, Lester Lee, and her brother Clayton preceded her in death.
Family interment will be held at the IOOF Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia, Wa on June 9, 2001 followed by a public celebration of her life at 1:00 at the Tekoa Community Church in Tekoa, Wa. In lieu of flowers the family request donations are made to Hospice of North Idaho or to Tekoa Community Church.
