Max SMITH Obituary

December 11, 1933 - July 30, 2023

Spokane Valley - Max was born in Odessa, WA, on December 11, 1933, to Ralph and Evelyn Smith. His family moved from the Northside of Spokane to Otis Orchards in 1949. He graduated from Otis Orchards High School in 1952 and served in the Navy in Japan from 1953-1955. Max was a journeyman carpenter and belonged to the Carpenter's Union, Local #98. He worked for Central Pre-Mix for 33 years as a foreman and superintendent in the pre-stress yard. He retired in January of 1997.

He was married to Kitty for 64 years. He is survived by his wife, Kitty, and four children, Daryl Smith (Lisa), Rhonda Alderete (Martin), Rena Goodwin (Mike), and Doug Smith (Jeannie). He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Tuttle, and survived by his sisters, Marian Mitchell, Janet Sweatte, Judy Christensen, Susan Phillips, and Gail Martin.

Hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, carpentry, vehicle restoration, radio-controlled airplanes, and later on home brewing. He was known to give family members unique nicknames. Max could fix anything and was always available to help anyone in need, anytime. He attended North Country Chapel.

A memorial service will be held September 16, 2023, at Valleypoint Church at 714 S. Pines Rd in the Spokane Valley at 2pm.

Max's final resting place will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Max was my Father-in-law for 40 years. He was an amazing smart and talented man. He was cheerful, kind and loving and always greeted you with a smile. He will greatly missed. I look forward to our reunion in Heaven, with Jesus.
