Age 46
Michael Douglas Corry, 46, of Colbert, WA passed away on August 7, 2024, after a fierce battle with melanoma. His ongoing determination and sense of humor in the face of adversity was inspiring to everyone who knew him.
Michael was born in Helena, MT, to Kathryn Jean Kepner and Douglas Harry Corry on April 11, 1978, joining his big sister, LeeAnne. The family moved to Lewistown, MT, later that year, and he spent his childhood years there surrounded by a large circle of close friends. He played basketball and ran track for Fergus High School (class of 1996) and played baseball for the Redbirds. Michael continued to enjoy playing and watching sports throughout his life. He attended Montana State University in Bozeman, graduating in 2000. He loved being a Bobcat and upheld the rivalry with the Griz with gusto.
Michael then attended Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, graduating in 2003. He remained in the Spokane area after graduation and spent most of his career as an Administrative Law Judge for the Washington State Department of Licensing. He was married to Erin Ehman Corry from 2001-2021. During their marriage, they had two amazing children, Reegan and Rylan, who became the center of Michael's world. Soccer became the family sport, and also became the foundation of a strong community of friends and support.
Michael met Karen Ellingsen Janout after he was diagnosed with cancer. It's because of Karen that Michael lived longer than anyone expected. Her dedication, tenacity, and love made the hope for a cure a possibility. They married June 24, 2023, in Spokane, Washington.
Michael was smart, funny, nerdy, and loving, which is why Karen and everyone else loved him. He had no fashion sense except for his witty t-shirts, but he could finish movie lines like no other. He claimed to be loved by all dogs, and he might have been right.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Douglas and Patricia Kepner, Harry and Lois Corry, Floyd and Peggy Jenni, Art and Kathleen Wichman, and nephew, Hunter Longtine. He is survived by his wife, Karen Ellingsen Janout; parents, Kathryn and Gary Jenni, Douglas and Dora Corry; sisters, LeeAnne (Chris) Sindt, Jamie (Ray) Longtine, Brittany Corry; brothers, Chance (Becca) Corry, Terry (Brenda) Jenni, Brandon (Cassie) Bergstrom; children, Reegan Corry, Rylan Corry, Radek Janout, Dominik Janout, Mirek Janout, Nela Janout; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. And we can't forget his dogs, Griff and Bear.
Michael will be missed by many.
