With heavy hearts the family of Nancy Jean Gleesing announces her passing at age 100 on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Nancy is survived by her children, John Gleesing of Spokane, Jim Gleesing of Yakima, Joe and Cindy Gleesing of Spokane Valley, Patrick Gleesing and Jude Yumang Gleesing of Kenmore, Nancy and Jerry Heuett of Bonney Lake, and TJ Gleesing and Marina Lopez of Lynwood: her grandchildren, Jennie and Tony Navarra, Melissa, Bree and Brendon Norick, Patrick Jude, Elizabeth, Tim, Annie, Justin, Aaron and Jessica, Kyle, Kellie and Jeff Barton, Kristen Leake, Jacob Heuett, Sara Heuett, Nick Heuett, and Ben Logsdon; and her great-grandchildren, Emmett Navarra, Genevieve and Kaspar Yoshihara, Lincoln and Landry Norick, Maximus, Chlover and Gavin Barton, Derrick and Jayden Leake, Elizabeth and Victoria Logsdon.
Those who preceded Nancy in death were her husband, Jerome V. "Chub" Gleesing; her father and Mother, John and Margaret Louise (Danny Lou) Fearing; her brother, Richard Gordon; sisters, Dorothy Louise Fox and Jacqueline Mae Farmer; her daughter, Mary Jean Gleesing Mosbauer; and granddaughter, Ellen Mosbauer.
Nancy was born on September 10, 1924, in Valley City, ND. She attended St. Catherine's from K-10 grade and LaMoure High School 11-12 grade where she met the love of her life, Chub. Chub and Nancy were Married on June 1, 1944. They moved to Crosby ND, Mount Vernon, WA; Spokane, WA; Yakima, WA for two years then back to Spokane where they settled to raise their seven children. Nancy and Chub shared 66 years of marriage before Chub's passing on April 24, 2010. Together they raised seven children, with Nancy devoting her life to being a dedicated mother and homemaker. Nancy loved knitting scarves, blankets, and mittens, she sewed decorations every holiday, she loved reading, playing cards, stamp and coin collecting, word puzzles, cooking, baking, canning and jam making. Nancy was known for her famous cinnamon rolls she made every holiday to deliver to family and friends. One year she made a tin of eight cinnamon rolls for St. Mary's silent auction. When the bidding war ended the rolls went for $800.00. Nancy was an active and dedicated member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was involved with book studies, prayer chains, knitting circles, Garden Club and Philomathea Club.
Nancy's family loved her very much and will keep her alive in their memories.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 304 S Adams Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99216. A committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, 17825 E. Trent Ave., Spokane Valley, WA 99216.
