Neil SIMPSON Obituary

Neil Wayne Simpson Sr., age 90, passed on December 30, 2023, with his wife of 71 years, Nina, at his side Neil was born in Bonesteel, South Dakota, to Harlow and Viora Simpson. As a young boy, his family moved to the Spokane area where he attended school, later he attended school in Newport, Washington, where he met his wife, Nina Oscarson. Neil was proud of his service at U.S. Naval Air Station Alameda, California. After the Navy, he returned to Spokane. His talent in drafting and design led him to American Sign and Indicator where he advanced to sales and made many lifelong friends. He later became the Owner/Operator of his trucking business and enjoyed working with the crews at Peterbilt and Central Premix. Neil had many interests over the years, airplanes (he had his pilot license), Arabian show horses, race horses, raising cattle, commercial salmon fishing, antique cars, German Shephard dogs, gardening, and sorting and organizing things in his garage (his family teased that he had a box labeled "pieces of string too short to save"). Neil was preceded in death by his son, Brian; his parents, Harlow and Viora; brothers, Allen and Donnie. He is survived by his wife, Nina; children, Neil Jr., Pam, and Greg; sister, Kathy; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Sending love and condolences to you Nina and your family! Oh my how Dad loved Neil! He and Mom both cherished your friendship!
I believe Trish and I learned to water ski behind Neil's boat. He was sooo patient and kind! Last time we saw the two of you was at Dad's memorial. Oh how touching was that! I hoped we all hugged you enough to share what you meant to us! Thank you!
Sending our love and blessings! So grateful for having you in our lives!
God bless!

Oh, how our family loved the Simpson family! Neil & Nina were jewels and my parents, Chuck and Patsy Williams, loved them so. No one was funnier than Neil, I can still hear he & Dad telling jokes, sipping on a glass or three of some brown libation. As little kids, Charlie, Cindy and Heidi & I, spent endless hours playing with Neil, Pam & Greg. We often reminisce about our fun times with the Simpson's. Please give your Mom our best and know that we are so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man.
