Nicholas WITTMAN

People from all walks of life loved PNW (Pretty Nick Wittman). His curiosity, acceptance, and genuine care for everyone is what drew people to him. His sly smile and laughter could brighten any room. He lived his life exactly how he wanted, and spent it with those that filled him with the most joy- he always managed to share that love through loving hugs, nicknames, and lighthearted jokes.

While Nick's physical strength was apparent, and his sense of humor clear, his true strength was in being genuine, safe, and a grounding and loving presence. He was someone that truly listened. His guidance made you feel like you were the one that came up with the answer.

Nicholas Joseph Wittman was born on January 5th, 1949, to Edward and Angela Wittman. Nick was raised in the Uniontown-Colton community, along with his siblings: Roberta "Jo" (Ted) Reisenauer of Spokane, Ann Marie "Mimi" (Wade) Hillman of Lewiston, John F. Wittman of Genesee, and Mary Kay (Tony) Anegon of Lewiston.

Growing up, Nick worked on the family farm for his grandparents, Mary and Tony Reisenauer and with his uncle Ray Reisenauer and brother John Wittman. Nick and John "The Boys" spent a lifetime dedicated to the legacy that was passed on to them.

Along with his love of farming, Nick was equally dedicated to his family. He is survived by his three children: Brian D. Semler and his wife Elisabeth, Erin Jane Wittman and her husband Terry, and Meghan Nicole Wittman. Perhaps his greatest joy was the time spent with his six grandchildren: Ella, Violet, Audrey, Nicholas, Nevella and James.

Saturdays at the farm were filled with stories and laughter; told while sitting around the farm table with John and Mary. Anyone was welcome to sit at the table; just so long as they could keep up with the loud and humorous conversation. Between lit candles, something baking in the oven, and an arrangement of snacks on the kitchen table, Nick always managed to make the house cozy.

Nick's passion was farming; however, it was never limited to just that. He spent endless hours woodworking, welding, taking care of his beloved pets, whipping up "creations" in the kitchen, doodling (on whatever was in front of him), decorating,

and gardening. Nick never failed to create something out of nothing. His imagination was unmatched.

The person that knew Nick best was his brother and best friend, John: self declared co-farmers of the year, every year (as they sarcastically claimed). Unlike many siblings, Nick and John's relationship lasted a lifetime; tethered by the good times, and the bad. They had each other's backs through the thick of it. Woven together, always.

Nicholas Wittman found eternal peace on December 8th, surrounded by loved ones. The family would like to express our gratitude for Sister Margie Schmidt's loving care and support.

A rosary service will be held on January 6th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Church, Uniontown, WA. Followed by coffee and pastries at the Dahmen Barn. There will be a private burial service.
