Patricia HELLER Obituary

HELLER, Patricia (Scheer) "Pat"

Patricia "Pat" Scheer Heller died October 22, 2016 in Spokane, WA. She was born at home on a wintry, snowy Sunday night in Rosalia, WA to Henry and Majel Putnam Scheer on January 3, 1926. She lived in Rosalia the early part of her life, graduating from Rosalia High School and onward to Washington State College, where she was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She lived and worked in Spokane after her schooling and in Portland, OR where she met her husband to be, Arnold Heller, in 1952. They were married and moved to Spokane in 1953 where she has lived for these many years. She was very active in the four churches she had attended, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and serving on many committees and boards in all four.
She was very active in Spokane Drury Lane Drama club studying plays, reviewing them for various organizations over many enjoyable years. She was also a long-time member of Spokane Sorosis, Spokane College Women, Spokane Civic Acappella Choir, as well as the Portland Civic Acappella Choir as long as she lived in Portland.
She started her own antique business in 1956. She continued with that business doing antique shows in many large cities throughout the country under professional and promotional leadership for 56 years. She taught home Bible classes, classes on antiques and held seminars on antiques at the YWCA both in Spokane and Great Falls, MT., for several years. She also became a certified antique appraiser in 1974 and had continued with that business until 2013 when her husband's illness made it necessary for her to close her business, "Whatnot Antiques."
She had one brother, Norman Scheer, deceased. She is survived by her three children, Peter Craig, David Elliott and Shaun Timothy (Diana) Heller, five grandchildren, five nieces and nephews and many great-grandchildren. Her husband predeceased her in 2013. She will be missed by many of her antique dealer friends, show promoters, customers, church affiliates and numerous friends. A memorial service will be held at South Hill Bible Church, 958 E. 29th Avenue, Spokane, WA, on November 5, 2:00 p.m.
