Patricia NORTON Obituary

November 22, 1953 - June 29, 2025

Spokane - Patty Norton left this world peacefully in the wee hours of the night on June 29, 2025. Patty was 71 years old and passed away from lung cancer. She will be greatly missed by her large circle of family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. She was a bright light in our lives.

Patty was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on November 22, 1953, moved west with her family to Brigham City, Utah, and later Richland, Washington. She graduated from Evergreen State College in Olympia and received her MSW from Antioch University.

Patty spent her professional life in the work of helping others. Her career in social work took her from New York City to Seattle to Spokane working with our world's most vulnerable people. Her last 15 years were spent helping unsheltered women at the Women's Hearth in Spokane, Washington. It would be impossible to count the many lives that she touched.

Patty leaves behind a loving family: her brothers, Tim, Tom, Peter, and John; sisters, Ann Mary and JimaLee; her daughter, Mary; grandson, Logan; and great-granddaughter, Tess. She also held a special place in the hearts of her nieces, Sara and Alison, as well as numerous relatives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Patty's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the lives of her loved ones. For all who knew and loved Patty, please hold her memory in your hearts and celebrate her life in your own fashion. The family will gather later this year for a private ceremony and lay Patty to rest alongside her late parents Red and Ann Norton.

If you wish to give charitably in Patty's honor and memory, please send donations to the Women's Hearth, 3128 N. Hemlock St., Spokane, WA 99205, or via the following link: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E79219&id=1
