Peggy Joan Buell (Braddock), 87, passed away November 1st, 2016.
She was born on January 10th, 1929 near Mankato, KS. Her family moved to the Hillsboro, OR area when she was very young.
She graduated from Canby
High School in Canby, OR in 1946. Joan married Lloyd Buell in December 1958 and they resided in the same home in NW Spokane their entire married lives.
Joan was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served many years in various capacities and enjoyed singing in the choir. In her younger years, she played the piano, was a majorette and an avid bowler. Later in life she became a devoted Seattle Mariners fan, keeping score of all the games whether on radio or TV. Joan loved old movies and had an extensive collection. For many years, Joan was active in Spokane area politics, serving for over 20 years as a Spokane County precinct committee member and worked with state representative Bill Day for four terms. She was a member of the Warren G. Magnuson Democratic Club, Democrats for United Action, Jane Jefferson Club, and Democratic Central Committee. Joan was always generous, hardworking, loyal, and honest in all her dealings.
Joan is survived by her two children, David Scott Buell of Simi Valley, CA and Shari Lynn Olson (Gary) of Spokane Valley; two grand- children, Ryan and Amy Olson; and brother, Carl Braddock of Seaside, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd J. Buell (2005); a brother, Earl Braddock; and her parents, Edgar and Pearle Braddock.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 732 W. Indiana Ave. in Spokane.
