Peter DIANICH Obituary

April 1, 1942 - October 25, 2025

Spokane - Peter Michael Dianich, a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Born on April 1, 1942, to Evelyn Moser and Peter Michael Dianich in Ballard, Washington, Peter grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. He graduated from Ballard High School, Class of 1960, and went on to attend Grays Harbor Community College before serving his country in the U.S. Army Reserves, completing his basic training at Fort Ord, California.

Peter was known for his deep love of nature. He found joy in hiking, fishing, and skiing, often heading out alone to appreciate the quiet beauty of the outdoors. He had a special fondness for wildlife and especially loved feeding the birds that gathered in his yard.

A man with a quick wit and an easy laugh, Peter had a wonderful sense of humor that brightened the lives of everyone around him. He loved a good joke, valued great conversation, and had a big heart that showed in the care and kindness he offered others.

Peter's curiosity and love of learning never faded. He enjoyed reading, particularly books on history, and was active in his community through the Kiwanis Club and his faith. He was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Spokane Valley and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cheney, Washington.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Greg and Laura; his stepdaughter, Heather; his sister, Nancy; his many grandchildren; and numerous dear friends and extended family who will miss his laughter, warmth, and generosity.

Peter's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him - in every shared story, every smile, and every quiet moment spent in nature.

My only uncle! I remember him as a happy gregarious guy at holiday gatherings long ago. I wish peace to my mother, cousins and the rest of his family.

Heartfelt condolences to the whole family. My deceased husband, Fred Trier, was Pete's cousin and they spent fun times together as kids and young adults - they especially enjoyed skiing. Fred and I enjoyed social time with Pete - some lovely dinner "dates". Thanks to his sister Nancy for letting the cousins' families know of Pete's passing. Blessings to all.
