Colonel Dick Bryd was a hero to many of the physicians in the Air Force whom he trained in the only stand alone pulmonary fellowship in the US. We all tried to be more like him and I often think about how supportive he was to us young physicians.

"Dr. Byrd was a compassinate doctor and was always very interested in how our farming was going and the last time we were there he was so excited to hear that we had just married. We will miss him so much."

Dr Byrd was not only an exceptionally wonderful man and Doctor, he also saved my husbands life. Kept him on all the right medication and he never had an asthma attack since. He was very personal. We were blessed to have the pleasure to have known him.

I have to say that Dr Bryd was a great and compassionate man. I took my elderly father to see him many times and Dr Byrd was always understanding and most helpful. My Dad was a difficult person to deal with and I saw a doctor who was always able to look past the anger in my father and take care of him with kindness and understanding. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers Dr Byrd and I share in the loss with his family. Steve Denny
