Robert BORCHERS Obituary
(Age 80)
Entered into rest on January 15, 2017 in his home town of Spokane, WA. Born in Spokane on August 5, 1936, Bob attended local schools, graduating from John R. Rogers High School in 1954. He then graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education from Eastern Washington University. A man of many talents, Bob enjoyed traveling and playing his accordion for 'The Silver Spurs' during 1954-1959. He also taught accordion for 12 years. His beloved occupation was School Teacher and he taught at Valley High School, 1959-1961 and for Mead School District, 1962-1989. Bob's interests also included memberships in the Street Tins, Corvette Club, Cadillac Club, the Spokane Yacht Club, and the Eagles Aerie #2. He enjoyed restoring and showing his treasured cars, also building homes, Drag Racing, and boating. This past November 24th, he and his wife, Roxana, celebrated 60 years of marriage. Bob is survived by his wife, Roxana; daughter, Valerie Gabriel (Robert) of Spokane; son, Dan Borchers (Domi) of Palm Springs, CA; daughter, Ronda Karn (Roby) of Bellingham, WA; sister, Sharon Paladin of Spokane; grandchildren, Branden Moreau (Brittany), Ashlyn and Taylor Karn; great-grandchildren, Kaeden and Teegan Moreau. Bob's life will be celebrated at a private family gathering.

Dear Roxana, Valerie, and Families,
I first met Bob when I was student teaching at the new Brentwood Elementary school with Jerry Linahan and Valerie was in my fourth grade class in about 1969. He was a very personable, pleasant man, and I enjoyed both his company and his mentoring. You are on my mind and in my heart as you go through his loss. My hope is that fond memories will sustain you during this time as you adjust to life without him. Sincerely, Paddy Inman

Mr. Borchers was one of my elementary school teachers in the Mead School District a long, long time ago; perhaps for 4th or 5th grade. His daughter Valerie was one of my classmates. Mr. Borchers made learning very fun and enjoyable. We did a play that was a Western about Hokum County (sp?). I played the sheriff and for whatever reason, I can still remember the first verse to the song, "The sheriff of Hokum County." To me that demonstrates the positive impact Mr. Borchers had on me as a student. Rest in peace Mr. Borchers and my condolences to the Borchers family.

Mr Borchers was my 5th grade teacher. We learned to square dance, play the tonet and class room play (something about the sheriff of hoquim county... a western. pat albim was the sheriff) I also remember marbles was a big thing then and he had a shoe box with a hole in top of it just big enough for a marble to fit through. If your marble went through the hole you got all the marbles in the box, but if you missed your marble went in the box!! You had to drop the marble from eye level and standing. Fond memories will miss you Mr borchers!!
