Roberta Archer Obituary

ARCHER, Roberta After a fulfilling 73 years of life, Roberta Archer, our loving mother, completed her earthly journey when she died at home on December 19, 2009, after an extended illness. Roberta was born February 4, 1936 in Spokane, WA the daughter of Robert and Bernadine (Keller) Doerschlag. She attended St. Joseph's Academy in Sprague, WA, graduating in 1954. She married her beloved husband, James Archer, on August 7, 1955 and lived in Sprague until 1971 when she moved to Missoula, MT. Roberta will be remembered for her earlier years as a talented piano player, and as an active 4-H leader, sharing her knowledge and skills in animal husbandry, sewing and cooking. Upon moving to Missoula, Roberta pursued her passion for horses. She started a business, along with her husband, James, breeding, training and racing quarter horses. Her love of horses showed in each and every horse she worked with. Roberta is survived by her four children, Shellie (Brad) Duncan of Spokane, WA, Brian, Brad and Anyia Archer of Missoula, MT, her mother, Bernadine Hegle of Spokane WA, her sister, Carol Brown (Ron) of Oakesdale WA, her brother Dean Doerschlag (Betty) of Reardan, WA, and her three grandchildren, Jamie Duncan, Erik Duncan and Brandon Archer. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Archer, her father, Robert Doerschlag, and her brother, Dale Doerschlag. Memorial contributions are welcome to the Montana Horse Sanctuary, Simms, MT. Many thanks to Hospice of Missoula for their assistance, and the staff at Elkhorn Health & Rehabilitation in Clancy, MT for their care of our mother. We love and miss you very much, Mom.
