Royal CADWALLADER

1931 - 2025

Royal Theo Cadwallader, age 94, passed away on February 17, 2025. He was born to Roby Don and Louise Bernice Cadwallader on February 17, 1931, in Red Lodge, MT. Royal was raised with his three sisters in Bozeman, MT, and Roslyn, WA. He attended Easton High School.

Royal entered into the Navy as Fireman Apprentice and proudly served our country in 1951. He trained at the U.S. Naval Training Center � Great Lakes, IL. Later, he was elected Post Commander of the American Legion. Royal worked in the coal mines early in life, and was the last living coal miner, from his era. He also worked in lumber mills, construction, and for Boeing.

During his off time, he met his beloved, Margaret, of 52 years, at one of the restaurants where he frequently ate. They married in 1966, and he helped raise Margaret's three children as if they were his own. Later, he adopted them.

He retired from East Valley Jr. High School in Spokane Valley, at age 62, after 20 years of faithful, hard work. Many friendships were formed during that time.

After retirement, Royal offered his hand to help many friends with odd jobs and volunteer services in his community. This includes training to become a community leader and a dance leader with Margaret. Together, they hosted neighborhood block parties for 17 years. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Royal was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; sisters, Joann Huebler (Bob), Donna (Albert) Plesha, Beverly (Bert) Grooters; and son-in-law, Gene Tewalt. He is survived by his son, Bill Cadwallader; daughters, Michelle Cotton (Todd) and Lisa (Karl) Franzmann; his grandchildren, Nathan Cadwallader, Maria Cone (Derek), Jessicca Walsh, Katherine Franzmann, and Jacob Franzmann (Kara); and his great-grandchildren, Ladon and Brooklyn Cone, Riley and Brian (Tripp) Walsh, and Revel and Waylon Franzmann; plus, many nephews and nieces.

The Viewing will be held Thursday, March 6, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m., at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206.
