Stephen RICHTER Obituary

RICHTER,
Stephen Thomas

May 5, 1943-
October 17, 2016

Stephen Thomas Richter passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2016 after experiencing life to the fullest His Way. Steve inspired us all with his love, generosity, creativity, and problem solving prowess. Steve was born in Spokane, WA in 1943 where he discovered his love for skiing at Mount Spokane at the age of 14. His family moved West where he graduated from Edmonds High School in 1961. Steve joined the US Forest Service and attended Everett Junior College. He worked at Mount Pilchuck Ski Area as a lift and rope-tow operator while he honed his skiing technique. He was tapped to join the elite and prestigious US Alpine Demonstration Team...an honor only offered to the best skiers in America. He was drafted and proudly enlisted in the National Guard. Steve then formed Heather Recreation Group which managed the operation of Mount Pilchuck Ski Area in the 1970's. They also managed operations at Ballinger Golf Course where Steve learned his zeal for Golf. After Pilchuck shut down, Steve, Jan Searle, and Randy Wicklund started Crystalite in the early 1980's. Crystalite became Steve's passion and allowed him a conduit to utilize his ingenuity to design, build, and patent the best skylights, sunrooms, and railings on the market. He retired from Crystalite in 2015. Steve loved Skiing, Boating, Fishing, Golfing, and Inventing Things. Steve is survived by his wife, Victoria Richter and her children Sheldon Cross and family, Spencer Cross and family, and Desiree Cross; mother, Signe Richter; sisters, Janine Richter and family, Gayle Weythman and family; nephew, Brett Barrett and family. Steve was preceded in death by his mom (Jane "Teddy" Richter), dad (Hugh Richter), and sister (Karen). A Celebration of Steve's life will be held from 3pm to 6pm, November 13th at Everett Golf & Country Club, 1500 52nd Street SE, Everett, WA. 98203.

So sorry to read about Steve the other day.We were friends and neighbors f to Janine and Steve. Steve was 3 yrs older than Janine and I. Teri Alexander, Scott Wilson, and Janine and I walked to and from
school together when we were younger.
Steve was probably 5th or 6th grade when he fashioned a motorized go cart using an old lawn mower motor to propell it. Quite impressive to the neighborhood kids. This ingenuity and mechanical ability helped him in his endeavors throughout his life
Great to learn Steve had such a rewarding life. Thinking of Janine & Family

The years have gone by and i lost connection with Steve since pilchuck days , My brother John Larson , George Savage and Steve spent many a memory filled evening sipping wines in the Pilchuck ski Shop . Always excited about what could be , a dreamer who combined hard work and a great personality to enlist a team around him to make anything work Steve was just like my brother they shared a talent that as a younger brother was great to be around , He was the chief ORBIOT . as savage would designate him . I hope their is deep powder for him in heaven . BEND Z KNEES!! We will miss you David Larson

I had the privilege of knowing Steve since the beginning days of Crystalite when he and Randy and Jan put in incredible effort to grow a successful company. Steve always inspired me to bring my best to the conversation and I respected his intelligence, insights and integrity. He will be missed.
