Stephen Arthur TWISS

1948 - 2021

Stephen A. Twiss, age 73, passed away August 26, 2021 at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho from respiratory failure. He was a resident of Bremerton, Washington.

Stephen was born January 8, 1948 at Albany, New York to Irvin E. and Norma (Smith) Twiss. He attended schools in Massachusetts graduating from Searles High School in 1965. Stephen then attended Wenatchee Valley Junior College for two years, followed by Eastern Washington State College where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Bio-Chemistry.

Stephen married Rebecca Jean Fletcher at Cheney, Washington on July 21, 1985. The couple made their home in Bremerton, Washington. Mr. Twiss owned and operated Twiss Analytical Laboratories in Poulsbo, Washington from 1990 until 2013 when the company sold. The company was a drinking water and environmental testing lab. He had previously worked for Western Nuclear in Wellpinit, Washington and the Department of Ecology in Port Orchard, Washington.

His hobbies included golfing, painting water colors, and traveling. While in Cheney, he was a volunteer for the Fire Department and the Cheney Police Department. He later was a volunteer for the South Kitsap County Fire Department.

Stephen was a member of the Silverdale United Methodist Church, a volunteer for the Sidney Museum and Gallery in Port Orchard, and was on the advisory board for Olympic College in Bremerton.

Survivors include his wife Rebecca at the Bremerton home; three children, Lizbeth (Wyatt) Bayliss of Port Orchard, WA, Jenny (John) Kelly of Bremerton, WA, and Kirsten Twiss of Salem, Oregon; and three grandchildren, Molly Twiss, Abigail Kelly, and Tyler Kelly. Also surviving is a brother, Clifford Twiss of Housatonic, Massachusetts.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa, Washington. Pastor David Snapper from the Silverdale United Methodist will officiate at the service.
