Susan Leddy Clutter Born: June 7, 1938, in Spokane, Washington Passed: October 12, 2025, in Liberty Lake, Washington.
Susan Clutter passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family October 12, 2025, she was 87. Susan lived her life demonstrating unshakable faith and unfailing devotion to family. Born to Thomas and Fern Leddy in Spokane, Susan had an older sister, Lola Harris, and an older brother, Bernard Leddy. As a child Susan moved several times living in Iowa, California and Texas. In January 1956 she graduated from Ysleta High School in El Paso, Texas and moved back to California. Susan met the love of her life, Bill Clutter, in Sunnyvale California in October 1956. They eloped to Carson City, Nevada being married on July 4, 1957. Together, they raised five boys-John, Mike, Bill, David, and Robert - in a home filled with laughter, chaos, and endless love. Susan often said her crowning accomplishment was raising her "five boys".
Susan earned an AS degree in Nursing from DeAnza College in 1974 and a BS degree in Nursing from Eastern Washington University in 1980. She dedicated 35 years to Valley General Hospital (1975–2010), primarily as a pediatric nurse. She loved caring for sick children and their families.
In retirement, Susan and Bill very much enjoyed traveling in the US, to Europe and Asia. Bill and Susan started a Christmas tree farm in 1992 in Otis Orchards. The Clutter Old-Fashioned Tree Farm provided joy to numerous families in search of that special Christmas tree. They loved sharing the magic of the season with families – helping find the perfect tree, serving hot chocolate and handing out candy canes. Many of Susan's most wonderful memories took place at the cabin Susan and Bill built with family at Priest Lake, Idaho.
Susan lived with purpose and devotion leaving a legacy of traits and values that she modeled and mentored to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: unconditional family love, humility, perseverance, and selfless acts in helping family and friends.
Susan is survived by her sons John (Cindy), Mike (Hailey), Bill (Lisa), David (Jodi), and Robert (Cathy); eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren, with another due soon.
