Warren THOMAS Obituary

The measure of a good man is not in the tally of his earthly goods but in the number and quality of his loving friends and family. That is particularly true of Warren R. Thomas who died of a sudden, but devastating, illness on June 19, 2024.

Warren was born to Vida Rae Virgin and Robert Walter Thomas in Spokane, Washington, and raised in Spokane Valley where he attended Opportunity Grade School and graduated from Central Valley High School. He was proud to have served multiple years in the Marine Corps reserves. He will be missed by many people from the Elk/Diamond Lake and Spokane Valley communities for his big heart, wry humor, sweet smile, and willingness to help others who were going through challenging times. The highlight of his life for the last four years was the time he spent inspecting boats at the boat launch at Diamond Lake and spending time with his cats on the shore at sunset.

Warren was a man of many talents. He had a curious mind and loved being Santa Claus, figuring out how to fix things, reading, cooking for others, Gizmos 1 and 2 and his cats, and his people. He loved well.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and is survived by daughter, Sherree Martinez and her husband, Abel, and their three children; daughter, DeAnna Thomas and her three children; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Roberta Smith, Ann Davis, and Gail Currie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A celebration of Warren's life will be held later this summer.

Contributions can be made in Warren's name to the Elk Community Food Bank or Hospice Spokane.
