Warren WYLIE Obituary

September 26, 1936 - November 13, 2023

Warren "Keith" Wylie passed away at the age of 87, on Monday November 13, 2023, in Spokane, WA. Keith was born on September 26, 1936, in Hebron, Nebraska, to his parents Charles "Ray" and Helen Wylie. He was the youngest of 3 siblings that included his brother "Russ" and sister "Jeanie" They had a family farm where they grew crops and raised livestock. The Wylie family moved to Norwalk, CA when Keith was 12. He graduated from Excelsior High School in 1955 and then went on to play football for Fullerton Junior College, as a running back. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1957 and was stationed at Fairchild in Spokane, WA, where he met his wife, Annette Hammond. They were married in Coeur D'Alene on January 22, 1960. They would welcome two children, Alan and Peggy, to their family and reside in Spokane the majority of their life together. Keith's hobbies included golfing, bowling, reading westerns and watching sports. He survived a stroke in 2002, that weakened the left side of his body. He and Annette began attending Valley Assembly Church in Spokane Valley. Pastor Al Hulton was influential in the restoration of Keith's relationship with God. Annette cared for him, until she passed in 2019. He then became a resident at the Spokane Veterans Home, where he would reside for almost 5 years, until his death.

Keith is survived by his son Alan Wylie (Alyson) and daughter Peggy Sellers (Jon), his grandchildren Aubrey, Janey (Jared), and Chris (Jenny), his great-grandchildren Molly, Calvin, Hunter, David, and Jackson. He is also survived by his nieces Kari (Tim) and Jill (Bret). Keith was pre-deceased by his wife, Annette, and grand-daughter Noelle.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10 AM at the Spokane Veterans Home, 222 E 5th Ave. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Spokane Veterans Home, via [email protected].

Keith was a great guy who will be missed. Many of my best memories of him were from when his son, Alan, and I were high school age. I spent a fair amount of time at their home in those days playing pool in the basement, talking with the family and, no doubt, being an all-around pest. But rather than call a pest control company on me (there's a story there somewhere), Keith and Annette welcomed me into their home. That was the beginning. I'm so grateful that they opened their home to me and, later, their hearts to Christ. We will meet again, but it's always a heartfelt loss to be temporarily separated. Thanks, Wylie family, for sharing your parents with me through the years. With much love and affection, Donny. PS. I hope you still have that engine block laying around somewhere so I can work on my old Mustang and be reminded of you.
