William HOLSTEIN Obituary
William "Bill" Holstein, of Sweet/Horseshoe Bend, Idaho passed away at his home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 58 years of age, from a heart-attack after working out in the yard.
Bill, the first child of William Alex Holstein and Linda Jean Lindgren, was born in Salem, Oregon on December 20, 1966. Bill's father worked for State Farm Insurance Company, and the family moved to different claims offices before their kids reached school age. They started in Salem, Oregon, then moved to Missoula, Montana; then Lewiston, Idaho; then Boise, Idaho; and finally, Meridian, Idaho.
Bill played a little basketball and baseball in his youth, but did not take to it. He enjoyed music, art, and singing in choir from fifth grade all the way through high school and eventually graduated from Meridian High School, Class of '85. He took some art classes from Boise State University.
His first job started in his youth, working for Boise Pool Sales (the family-owned pool business) earning 5 cents for every rock found within the pool area, then 10 cents. Once old enough, Bill and his brother helped with the installation of above- and below-ground vinyl-liner swimming pools.
After High School Bill had various jobs, including working at the Palladium Palace as a dishwasher, and at Sam Goody in the Boise Town Square Mall.
Bill eventually enlisted in the Idaho Air Guard and after 6 month enlisted for active duty in the Air Force in 1989 as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician, serving at Myrtle Beach AFB, SC; RAF Alconbury, UK (2-years overseas), until his end-of-duty at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ as a crew chief for the A-10 Thunderbolt, in the 358th Fighter SQ (Active duty from Apr 1989 to Aug 1991).
After the Air Force, Bill returned to Boise and had various jobs. His best friend helped him get a job with Albertsons Corporate Security, as a correction officer at the Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC), and as a driver for Links (non-medical transport). Bill's last job was a driver for Freedom Shuttle; Bill especially liked his last job, co-workers and clients. I greatly appreciate that it allowed me to tell all our friends and family about my brother's human trafficking Job.
While he was not honing his human trafficking skills, Bill's hobbies included gaming (PS5/PC), kayaking, bonfires, concerts, and cranking up the tunes at home or while driving his Camaro.
Bill was also an AA member since 1997, with 28 years of sobriety.
Bill is survived by his brother, Brad of Garden City, Idaho; aunts, Cindy Ford of Onalaska, WA, Connie (Don) Boyd of Coeur d'Alene, ID; uncles Larry (Lori) Holstein of Coeur d'Alene, Brad (Audrey) Lindgren of Centralia, WA; and many cousins.
Bill was proceeded in death by his grandparents, parents, Bill and Linda; Aunt Helen Hamilton; Uncle Russ Lindgren; and sister, Laura.
Services, Officiated by Pastor Al Cinnamon of Heritage Christian Church, were held Friday, May 16, 2025, at The Potter Funeral Chapel, 228 E. Main St, Emmett, ID. Bill's interment was at the Sweet-Montour Cemetery.
