News Death Notice

BLACK, Brian C. "Blackie" Age 85, passed away on the eve of his 62nd wedding anniversary, July 23, 2016. He was born May 17, 1931 at Durbin Boyd County, Kentucky. The son of the late Walter C. and Amanda Wilson Black. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Bernard Black; daughter Marlena K. (Roger Sr.) Baker; 2 grandsons Roger Allen (Elizabeth) Baker and Kyle Austin Baker; 2 great grandchildren Kaylie and Lucas; sister Kay (Jack) Brown; brother Walter C. (Jean) Black along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by 1 sister Sue Bowmer. Brian was a veteran in the United States Army where he served in the Korean Conflict as a Corporal. Later he worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a model maker. He was known for his fiber glass work world-wide. Brian also worked at Ryan International. He enjoyed being a church youth group leader as well as camping and traveling with his family. Brian was a member of NARFE, DAV and was an Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5pm-7pm with a funeral service to follow on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:30am.
