News Death Notice

WOLFORD, Chester "Chet" 68, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on his birthday, Friday, December 7, 2012. He was born in 1944, the son of Burl and Lula (Preece). He retired from International Harvester after 34 years and was a member of the UAW Local 402. Chet loved cars and was an attendant at the North and Bechtle Car Wash. For the last several years, he attended the High St. Church of the Nazarene where he enjoyed welcoming people. Previously, he attended and was a member of Forest Valley Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Phyllis, in 2002. Chester is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Wolford- Sisco of Springfield, son, Michael Wolford of South Charleston, one sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Bob Oney, three brothers and one sister-in-law: Karl W. Wolford, Roger Wolford, and Jimmy and Nancy Wolford, all of Florida; three grandchildren: Chelsea, Brittani, and Brandon; one great granddaughter, Phoebe, his Aunt "Lil", and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Freddie. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 5-8:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Forest Valley Free Will Baptist Church, 1821 Troy Rd., Springfield. Burial will be in the Ferncliff Cemetery.
