Darlene POTTS Obituary


News Death Notice

POTTS, Darlene L. 92, of Springfield died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 following two months illness. She was born February 21, 1920 in Ironton, Ohio the daughter of Thomas and Bessie Anna (Anderson) McClain. Mrs. Potts had been the manager of Woolworth's lunch counter for fourteen years, and worked for One Hour Martinizing and Wobbe's Dry Cleaners. She was an avid bowler and served as Secretary of the Women of the Moose Bowling League at Shamrock Lanes. Darlene is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Michael R. and Debbie Miller of Springfield; one daughter Sherry Berry of North Port, Florida; one sister Janet Aller of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; five grandchildren John Berry of Springfield, Chris Berry of Urbana, Lisa Colwell of North Port, Florida, Ty (Kristin) Miller of Gurnee, Illinois and Jenna (Tim) Hicks of Odessa, New York; ten great grandchildren Michelle Colwell, Madison Berry, Abigail Berry, Ellison Hicks, Birch Hicks, Dustin Berry, Kylie Berry, Taylor Berry, Lydia Miller and Amelia Miller; and one great granddaughter Alexus Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years Virgil J. Potts in 2009; her son Keith Alan Miller; four brothers Thomas, Robert, Thelbert and Charles "Sam" McClain; two sisters Wanda and Patricia Malone. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Timothy Downing officiating. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.richardsraffanddunbar.com
