Dwight COFFELT Obituary
News Death Notice
COFFELT, Dwight Passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. He was born in Springfield on July 3, 1932 the son of the late William and Lilah (Powell) Coffelt. Dwight was a graduate of Asbury College and Asbury Seminary. During college he was director of Youth for Christ International, and would return to Springfield for weekend rallies. It was at one of these rallies where he met Betty Huff. They were married in 1958. After graduation from Asbury, Dwight returned to Springfield to work in the business started by his father in 1941, Coffelt Candy Company. Dwight grew the business over the years and ran it until his recent illness prevented him from being involved in the daily operation. Dwight, having his own business, was afforded the time and opportunity to assist ministers who sought his help throughout the years. Dwight was co-founder of Christian Radio Station WEEC. He was a member of Christ Chapel Church of God. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty, daughter, Wendy (Gary Frederick), granddaughter, Christian (Justin) Wilhelm, grandson, LCPL Alec (Courtney) Vancil, USMC, great granddaughters: Aubree and Madison Wilhelm; sister Carol Eblen, sister-in-law, Wilma Yager, bothers-in-law: Wilbur (Carole) Huff, Leroy Liming, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Patty Liming, and brother-in-law, Jake Yager. Dwight was a very caring, patient, charitable man who stood by his principles and would find some good in everyone. He will be missed. A celebration of his life and ministry will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Christ Chapel Church, 2404 Troy Rd., Springfield, Ohio. Friends may call prior to the service from 12-2:00 p.m. in the Church. Burial will be in the Ferncliff Cemetery.

The Rev. Orlo Freshly (our brother-in-law) told us about Dwight's passing. We would have come to his funeral, if we would have known. It was through Dwight that I worked for the Coffelts 1954, 1955 and met my husband. I loved his family, especially Lilah. Marjorie (Miller) Klinger

Dwight and Betty were very special friends. Dwight always had a special gift at showing up to pray with us just when we needed someone. He taught us so much about the Bible and all that we had in the Holy Spirit.as we were new Christians. We so enjoyed the special prayer meetings he led us in. He had so much love and compassion for everyone he knew. We feel so fortunate that God sent Dwight and Betty into our lives. Now he has left this life to begin his new life with the Lord he loved so much. May Gods peace that passes all understanding be with you Betty and Wendy and your families. Love Fred and Barb

I was priviledged to sit in Sunday School class with Dwight... he always prayed such a wonderful prayer when called upon... was always a gentleman and a quiet person.... He has been missed in our class since his illness... and will still be missed since he has gone on to his reward in heaven.... my condolences to his family and especially to his widow , Betty .... Dear Betty,
Dwight embraced life as completly as anyone I ever knew. His smile and laughter brought instant smiles and laughter to us all. He lived his faith moment by moment and inspired all of us to do the same. I knew him and you most closely as he led Youth for Christ in Springfield and invited us to joyous occasions of fellowship at his home.
Dwight's spirit of love and joy will always live in my and many others' hearts. Connie and I share your grief and join in your celebration of Dwight's life which blessed so many. We will be in touch.
