SNYDER, Esther 89, of New Carlisle, Ohio, went to be with the Lord at 10:46 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2006, in Day View Care Center, New Carlisle. She was born Minnie Esther Studebaker, Oct. 23, l916, in Springfield, Ohio, to Russell and Cyntha (Smith) Studebaker. She graduated from North Hampton High School, North Hampton, Ohio, and Manchester College, North Manchester, Indiana. Esther married her college sweetheart, Lester D. Snyder, June 8, 1940, and shared 60 years of marriage prior to his death Oct. 28, 2000. She was a member of Donnels Creek Church of the Brethren where she served on numerous boards, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir, and served as deaconess along side her husband for 50 years. She taught first grade at Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville, Ohio, for three years, then second grade at Medway Elementary School, Medway, Ohio, for 27 years, retiring in 1980. She and her husband were active in the Clark County Farm Bureau, Springfield Banjo Band, and operated a dairy farm in New Carlisle until 1995. Mrs. Snyder is survived by four sons, Kenneth (Dottie) of Orient, Ohio, John (Cheryl) and Paul (Melody), both of New Carlisle, and Harold (Janet) of Trotwood, Ohio; 19 grandchildren, Kenneth (Danetta) Snyder Jr., Brian (Teri) Snyder, Kristie (Scott) Malott, Jennifer, Craig and Kari Snyder, Gretchen (Tim) Hilty, Clark (Jennifer) Snyder, Darryl (Missy) Snyder, Gregory (Amanda) Snyder, Erik (Lahela) Snyder, Michelle (Ben) McKay, Melissa (Andy) Gundolf, Stephanie (Jason) Errett, Scott (Alicia) Snyder and Kyle, Ryan, Dennis and Anna Snyder; 26 great-grandchildren, Tabbitha, Courtland, and Parker Snyder, Kiersten and Josiah Snyder, Bode and Braxton Malott, Taylor and Lindsay Snyder, Heidi, Abby, Natalie and Courtney Hilty, Alexander and Ellen Snyder, Rebekah, Matthew and Rachel Snyder, Madelyn and Gage Snyder, Michael and Adeline McKay, Faith and Grace Gundolf, and Kali and Kaydie Snyder. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, two brothers, Carroll (Rena) Studebaker and Don (Marcy) Studebaker, both of Springfield, and one sister, Evelyn (Bill) Sayers of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Laurel, Jay and Dale Studebaker, and three sisters, Naomi (Studebaker) Noll, Velma (Studebaker) Kuehner and Wilma (Studebaker) Kreps. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2006, in the TROSTEL-CHAPMAN FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2006, in Donnels Creek Church of the Brethren, 6562 Detrick-Jordan Pike, Springfield, Ohio, with Pastor Floyd Smith officiating. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken Snyder, Jr., Brian Snyder, Clark Snyder, Darryl Snyder, Ben McKay, Andy Gundolf, Scott Snyder and Kyle Snyder. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Malott, Craig Snyder, Tim Hilty, Gregory Snyder, Erik Snyder, Jason Errett, Ryan Snyder and Dennis Snyder. Esther was loved and fondly remembered by so many of her students she taught through the years. Her life was exemplified through Proverbs 31:28 "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." Memorial contributions may be made to Donnels Creek Church of the Brethren for those wishing to do so.
