Janet Voris Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

VORIS, Janet Lee 53, triumphantly joined our Lord Jesus Christ in Paradise on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in Community Hospital, where she can now sing and praise the Lord at the very feet of Jesus. She was preceded in glory by her loving father, Robert M. Voris and mother, Ruth M. (Burke) Voris, her beloved aunt, Blanche Grady and uncle, Hadyn Grady, her paternal grandparents, James and Betty (Poling) Voris and maternal grandparents, Jesse and Elizabeth (McKeever) Burke, an infant nephew, Victor Mark Voris, several other aunts and uncles. She is survived by her caretaker, friend and sister in heart and in Christ, Lois "Sue" Miller of Springfield; a brother, James, his wife, more of a big sister, Melanie Voris of Cape Coral, Florida; four nieces, Chai Marie Voris, Debbie Hunter of Loveland, Ohio, Attiga Wolfe, her husband Keith Wolfe; a nephew, Robert E. and sweet wife, Janet Voris and two great-nephews, Tristen and Cameron Wolfe, all of St. Paris. She is also survived by her beloved four-legged children: Phoenix, Arizona (Az), Sweet Same, Calico Callie, Precious Patches and Pretty Babe. She was a member in safekeeping of our Lord since her dedication at birth and a proud soldier for Christ. She had been medically retired for several years and as her health permitted, a very active member of several organizations. She was a member and former Chaplain of the AmVets Auxiliary Post 25 and AmVets Auxiliary Post 189. She worked as a volunteer with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program through the Marine Corps League Springfield Detachment 963 at Christmas. She was also a volunteer for the Volunteer Service Bureau at the Salvation Army each year for the Christmas program. She worked with the Clark County Veterans Council on many projects and helped with the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. She was a very active, loving member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Where her pleasurable duties for the Lord's work and her Church were truly her favorite times. Her duties included Secretary, Lay Leader and Lay Speaker and member of several committees. She loved her Church Family and especially her St. Mark Mothers. There will be a video musical service at St. Mark United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. David Yingling and Rev. Dr. Karen Chrisley officiating. Following, there will be a brief graveside musical service in Rose Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME from 6-8 p.m. Friday. At Janet's request, please do not send flowers, instead a donation to the general fund or Trustees of St. Mark UMC, a cash or food donation to your favorite food bank or a donation to Trinity Broadcasting Network.

I am missing Janet! As her pasor, I have enjoyed our ministry together. Her last sermon communicates her faith to many. Her faith was complete, simple, and very open. She was Christ's servant of love and compassion. God bless!!!
