Lamar Wenner Obituary


News Death Notice

WENNER, Lamar E. age 82, of Springfield passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 8, 2011 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. Lamar was born December 16, 1928, the youngest of three sons born to Fred and Grace (Stanford) Wenner in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. In his younger days, Lamar played semi-pro baseball for the Elliott Company and played minor league baseball in the St. Louis Cardinal organization. All of Lamar's adult life he was employed in the grocery business with Kroger's and with Albers (Colonial Stores) in Springfield and Virginia Beach, VA. In 1978 he returned to Ohio to work as manager at Village Supervalue in Cedarville, OH, where he worked until he retired in 2004 at the age of 76. Lamar is survived by his wife and best friend of 62 years, Nancy (Powers) Wenner; his son and daughter-in-law Larry and Earlene Wenner; two grandsons and their wives Lamar and Monica Wenner, and John and Hannah Wenner; and the apple of his eye, great grandson John Marcus Wenner, all of Springfield. Lamar's biggest passions were his family, traveling to the mountains, and walking his dog, "Rags". Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Max and John. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM. in Rose Hill Burial Park with Pastor Doug Thompson officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to www.richardsraffanddunbar.com

LAMAR WAS A VERY NICE MAN. HE WAS ALWAYS VERY FRIENDLY TO HIS CUSTOMERS.

Miss Lamar from the grocery. He always had something to say when I went shopping. He will be missed by a lot of people.
