Mildred WRIGHT Obituary

News Death Notice

WRIGHT, Mildred H. went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2013 in her home at 11:45 PM while sleeping. She was born Mildred Hayes on August 13, 1918, in Quicksand, KY, and was 94 years old. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Arnold Wright, and her two sons, daughter-in-law, grandson, and great grandson; also, a brother Chuck Hayes and a sister Irene Stephens. Her surviving family consists of brother Abner Hayes; grandsons Edward (Gay) Wright of Urbana, Mark (Candy) Wright of Springfield; granddaughters Cherie Wright of Springfield, Debbie (Bobby) Thurman of Malta, OH, and Carla Pilkenton of Xenia. She also leaves 11 great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren. Mildred started her life in the coal country of eastern Kentucky. Her husband and many of her family were coal miners. She lived from the end of the great influenza epidemic, through the Great Depression, WWII, and the Korean, and Vietnam wars to the present. Mildred migrated to Ohio from Kentucky as a young mother seeking work. She was employed at Wright Patterson AFB, and retired from Crowell-Collier Publishing. After retirement Mildred joined Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. She was a witness of Jesus Christ to many, and saw the salvation of many friends, and family by her work. Her most precious sight was the salvation of her husband, who became a steadfast Deacon, and witness to Jesus himself. She will be missed by many, but will greet many more on the shores of heaven. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Mildred's life will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM. in the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor James E. Reed officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Mildred's name to Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 2650 Hilldale Rd., Springfield, OH 45505. May 15, 2013

Dear Debbie, Carla and Family,

Sorry to hear of the passing of Mildred. There will be a large void in our lives now with her gone. I have known Mildred all of my life, she always called me her little "Buddy". My Mother met Mildred in 1943, when she migrated North from Tennessee to seek work. She met Mildred at the Crowell-Collier Publishing Company. I joined Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in 1971 and Mildred and Mother were just behind me. I would pick Mildred up every Sunday to go to Church before Mom, Dad and Arnold joined. Mildred is in a much better place there then she was here. She was a kind hearted, good, loving, friend, person and most of all a devoted Christian. Mildred will live on in our Memories forever here on Earth. Mildred was a wonderful Cook and I'll always remember the food and sweets she would cook and bake and bring to the house and church. But most of all the big SMILE she always had on her face and the prayers and concerns she always had for other people and her Family. Mildred truly is another Angel in Heaven.

I have wonderful memories of Mildred and my Mother, Georgia Mills, laughing and telling their stories to all of us children. She was a positive influence on my life, and I loved her for it. She lives on in all of our wonderful memories of her, and we know she is in a better place now with her beloved Arnold in heaven with our Lord.

Grandma, now you are embraced in Gods arms and no more suffering. I will never forget all our good times as a child in your kitchen, holidays we spent together, and you giving me my first Barbie Doll, I know how much pleasure it gave you to see my eyes light up! I could go on and on but you and I know both know how much love we shared and how much you loved my family. You left behind a great Legacy.
