News Death Notice
CORWIN, Patricia L. "Pat" 81 of Urbana, passed away, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born June 2, 1934 in Thackery, Ohio the daughter of Edgar D. and Nellie E. (Armstrong) Shaffer. She graduated from Christiansburg -Jackson High School in 1952. She retired from Navistar as a Purchasing Agent. She was a 60 year member of the Home City Chapter #258 Order of the Eastern Star, Springfield and an avid member of the Republican Women's Club. Pat was also a member of Terre Haute United Methodist Church participating with United Methodist Women in addition to being a Sunday school teacher. She was a volunteer for VOL (Volunteer Open Line) and Mercy Memorial Hospital. Pat was also proud to be one of the original members of the Cancer Association of Champaign County. She is survived by her husband, Edwin G. "Bus" Corwin and would have celebrated 54 years of marriage this October 21, 2015. Also surviving are daughters; Debra (Norman) Wright and Valerie (Gary) Laughman, sons; Bob (Tonya) Little and Ed (Sarah) Corwin II, six grandchildren; Carla (Toris) Compton, Vanessa Little, Gary Laughman II, Marcus Laughman, Allison Corwin and Kathryn Corwin, one great-grandson, Shamar Compton, sisters; Carol (Dean) Hazelett and Cedelya Shaffer in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and many friends, including special friends; Jennie Cline and Alice Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1st husband, William Little. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 At VERNON FUNERAL HOME, URBANA. Eastern Star Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on July 15, 2015 in the Terre Haute United Methodist Church with Pastor David Yinger and Pastor Paul Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Pallbearers will be; Gary Laughman, Eddie Corwin II, Gary Laughman II, Marcus Laughman, Bob Little, and Toris Compton with Honorary Pallbearers; Pat Wagner and Mike Johnson. Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Terre Haute UMC, 5938 State Route 55, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
