Robert Augenstein Obituary


News Death Notice

AUGENSTEIN, Robert A. "Augie" passed away August 23, 2011 at home. Born September 29, 1944, he was the son of Dale Augenstein and the late Edna (Disler) Augenstein. Robert retired from Navistar International and was governor of the Urbana Moose Family Center four times, where he was instrumental in several community charities. He was awarded the Fellowship Degree of Honor in 2004 for his service. He was an avid Cubs and sports fan and is still awaiting the elusive World Series victory. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of sports trivia and was an accomplished athlete in his younger years. His three grateful sons, Randy, River and Ryan survive him, as well as three beloved daughters- in-law, five grandchildren and one on the way. Also Marlene Augenstein, his father and four siblings survive him. He was preceded in death by his mother, and a brother, Steven Augenstein. A celebration of life will be held at the Urbana Moose Family Center, 642 Mosgrove Street, Urbana on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in Robert's memory may be sent to Ryan Augenstein, 2024 Pemberton Dr., Fort Wayne, IN 46805. The family is being served by the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main Street, Urbana, OH. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.walterfunerals.com.
