Roger Curnutte Obituary
News Death Notice
CURNUTTE, Roger A. age 62, of Urbana, passed away suddenly Sunday, April 5, 2009. Roger is a 1964 graduate of North High School. He is a United States Army Veteran of Vietnam, serving from 1964 to 1971, awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Army National Guard in Urbana for 15 years and was the competitive shooting national champion. Roger was a life long member of FOP. He retired from the Urbana Police Department as Patrol Sgt. with 27 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed driving charter busses and his Harley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Donna (Johnson) Curnutte; aunt, Ruth Swartzbaugh. Survivors include his wife Barbara (Risden) Curnutte; daughter, Jodi Curnutte Eickemeyer (Becky Hall); son, Scott (Laurie) Curnutte; granddaughters, Bailey and Ashton Curnutte; step daughters, Jennifer Risden (Sheila Palmer), Jackie Risden; step grandsons, Matthew Palmer and Ethan Risden; aunt, Kathrine Green; sister, JoAnne (Dick) Hassler; nieces, Tamara Hassler and Trisha Ratliff; cousins, Bill and Harry (Barb) Green and special friends, Jeff (Wendy) Eggleston and family. Family will receive friends 5:00 8:00 pm Thursday, April 9, 2009 in the JACKSON LYTLE & WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, Springfield where services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, April 10, 2009 with Rev. Tim West officiating. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Jodi and Scott - Your mom and dad and I graduated in the same class at North High. Then your mom and I were roommates in nursing school. You kids are close to my kids' ages and you all used to play together while your mom and dad and my husband (Chuck Johnson) and I played really CHEATING games of euchre. We stayed close for several years, but then lost touch. I'm so sorry to hear of Roger's untimely death, and will hold you and your families in my thoughts as you struggle to get through this painful experience. Please give you mom my regards. I would like to thank everyone that has written such kind words to my family and about my father. Your words are extremely comforting to all of us during this time.
I would like everyone to know that the dates for the viewing are Thursday, April 9th from 5pm-8pm and the funeral is on Friday, April 10th at 10:00am. Everything is taking place at Jackson Lytle and Williams Funeral home on North Limestone.
We are so sorry for any confusion that this has caused.
They are listed wrong on the long version of the obituary and we are trying to get them corrected as soon as possible.
