Family-Placed Obituary


RHOADS, Sara Lee 82, of Urbana, formerly of Springfield, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 after a brief illness. She was born on October 18, 1923 in Highland County, Ohio the daughter of Wesley and Nora (Nevins) Kerns. After high school Sara was one of the first women to enlist in the United States Navy and was stationed in Pearl Harbor serving our country during World War II. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church. Before retirement she was employed at the Holiday Inn in Monroe Michigan. Sara was a loving and caring person whose family and friends were of most importance to her. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and bingo. In 1980 she was preceded in death by her beloved husband John D. Rhoads, they were married for 34 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Jones. She is survived by her five children, son and daughter-in-law, John D. Rhoads and Michelle Fialho of California; daughters and sons-in-law: Connie Rhoads and Kenneth Pabst of Springfield; Rita and Emory Jones of Monroe, Michigan; Pamela and Randy Lynch of Indianapolis; Cheryl and Pete Hill of Monroe, Michigan; two sisters, Julia Hester of Bainbridge, and Frances Bailey of Springfield, seven grandchildren: Angela, Robert, Jason, Natalie, J. J., Joshua, and Cody, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2005 from 2-5 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday at 11 am in the Bainbridge Cemetery, Bainbridge, Ohio, with Pastor David Hill officiating. The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care given to Sara from the good people at Heartland of Urbana and the wonderful members of the Northside Baptist Church.
