News Death Notice

DESSINGER, Steven R. 53, of Columbus, passed away Sunday morning, June 28, 2015 at Springfield Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Springfield on February 25, 1962, the son of John R. and Betty L. (Davis) Dessinger. He was a 1980 graduate of Springfield North High School and earned an Associate's degree in Applied Business and Hospitality Management from Columbus State. Steve worked as a water mitigation specialist for Code Blue, Springfield. He is Past Master Councilor of the Springfield Order of DeMolay. He loved Florida and resided there for 12 years before moving back to be close to family. Besides his family, his other great loves were the Cincinnati Reds to which he was a season ticket holder, roller coaster enthusiast, vacations in Key West and long-time Barbra Streisand fan. In addition to his parents of Springfield, Steve is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Bob Falkner of Springfield; and a niece, Stephanie Falkner of Columbus. Also surviving are special friends Rob Peron, Wendy and Jeff Patterson and Rocket, Roy and Mary Roberts, Michelle Norman, Nick and Vicci Lubbers and Daniel Webb (deceased). The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff and management of Code Blue for their compassion and support of Steve and to Pastor Leslie Fox for her wonderful caring and guidance. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor Leslie Fox officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
