News Death Notice

ROBINSON JR., Thomas E. 71, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on February 29, 2012 after lengthy illness resulting from a stroke. He was born in Springfield, Ohio, February 8, 1941. Thomas "Jr." graduated from Springfield South High class of 1960. He was a retiree of Navistar and Clark County Juvenile Detention Center and member of UAW 402. His passion and desires was mentoring adolescents and encouraging development and growth in the Clark County youth community. He was co-founder and director of Reaching Out For Youth Group Homes. He was a referee official for Springfield Parks and Recreation. He also was co-founder of the Robinettes women's softball team leading them to many state titles and close national victories. He also served short term as assistant coach for Central State Women's Basketball team. Lastly, he was a concessionaire for many years for Springfield Parks and Recreation serving Lagonda Field and Davey Moore Parks. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Stevens; father Thomas E. Robinson Sr.; sister Elizabeth Bell and brother Fred Robinson. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Leslie Robinson of Columbus, Ohio, Deneen Robinson (Floyd) Bacon of Peachtree City, Georgia and Nedra Robinson Nora of Lantana, Texas and five grand children, one great grand daughter and a great grandson on the way. He also leaves sisters, Beverly "Pedie" Robinson, Linda Robinson, Anita Robinson and brother, Fred (Sandy) Sanford Jr. and a host of niece and nephews. Viewing Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 6 - 8 p.m. at El Bethel Temple Church. Funeral Service Wednesday, March 7, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at El Bethel Temple Church. Burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.
