Vernon SHOEMAKER Obituary
News Death Notice
SHOEMAKER, Jr. Vernon Fletcher 70 formerly of Springfield passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 after a ten year battle with throat cancer. He was born on May 20, 1943 in Springfield, Ohio to Vernon Sr. and Thelma (Jean Goodman) Shoemaker. He remained in Clark County until six years ago when he moved to Milford to be closer to family. Vern was a proud Wright State University Alumni, a Charter Member of the Alumni Association and served several terms on the WSU Alumni Board. He began his career in the wine business with Heidelberg Distributors following was Allied Wine & Spirits and F.A. Bonanno Company. In 1987 he concentrated his efforts on his own brokerage business, Cordonnier Marketing until his death. Vern was a member of the Gallo Nero Society of Italy, a charter member of the German Wine Society and graduate of the German Wine Academy and a member of the Compagnon du Bordeaux. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Norton) and two sons, Gregory (Kim) of Cincinnati and Stephen (Holly) of Amelia-five granddaughters, Emily, Sarah, Gwyneth, Norah and Mae and a niece, Shannon Manns of North Carolina. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Shawn and a sister, Joyce Hopkins. He remained loyal to his three best friends, Fred, Mike & Bob and everyone will miss his wit. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. A funeral liturgy will be Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church with Deacon Norm Horstman. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
