Arthur "Ed" Adams
August 24, 1929 - October 30, 2025
Arthur (Ed) Adams died peacefully at his home on October 30, 2025. Ed was born August 24, 1929, in Queens, NY to Arthur F. and Annie Hendersen Adams (New Brunswick, Canada). He was preceded by Henrietta Adams, his beloved wife of 70 years, sisters Jean DelVecchio, Claire Ferris, and Laura Hanna, and grandson Conor Alderman.
Ed was family oriented, a deeply religious man, kind and charitable. He freely gave both time and money to many local and national organizations. Our home was always filled with laughter as friends and family joined Ed and Henrie for dinner, celebrations and playing cards; all felt welcome at their home. He loved his children with a passion, sons Art, Bill and son-in-law Doug, his daughter Susan (his princess), and grandchildren Jessica, Daniel, Katelyn, Morgan, Conor, and Hunter. Ed's pride and joy were his three great-grandchildren Halee, Owain and Molly.
He was an avid fly fisherman, golfer and tennis player. Ed was an Eagle Scout who was always prepared and enjoyed supporting the Boy Scouts; coaching Little League and Babe Ruth teams, and the Knights of Columbus. Ed spent many early morning hours and weekends at various Hockey Rinks with his son in law Doug, supporting both of his grandsons Conor and Hunter.
He had a passion for anything radio, especially radio controlled airplane and boat models. He was one of the founding members of what is now known as the Country Squire Modelers in Norwalk, CT. Ed always brought his sons Artie and Bill with him to Sherwood Island to fly model airplanes. Later in life he would take each of his grandsons (Daniel, Conor and Hunter) to Cove Pond to sail the beautiful wooden sailboats he made for them. One of his beautiful models is on display at the Ponus Yacht Club in Stamford, CT.
Ed served in the US Army as a senior non-commissioned officer within the 15th Constabulary Squadron patrolling the borders between West Germany, East Germany and Czechoslovakia after WWII. He would share only the good memories and pictures. He loved attending the Squadron's annual reunions with Henrie.
Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather (Double Grandpa) and uncle. He is survived by his children, Arthur and Dawn Adams (Eastham, MA), William and Kathleen Adams (Southport, NC), Susan Alderman (Stamford, CT), Ed's dearest friend Douglas Alderman (Stamford CT); his cherished grandchildren Jessica (Chris), Daniel (Kara), Katelyn (Tyler), Morgan Alderman (John), Hunter (Rachel); his wonderful Great Grandchildren Halee, Owain and Molly; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
A Christian Service and celebration of Ed's life will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Church, 1184 Newfield Ave, Stamford, CT. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, share memories, and honor his legacy. No calling hours will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, EIN 31-180193 supporting Coast Guard members in need.
