Richards, Flora
Flora (Terry) Richards age 90, passed away on June 17, 2013 in Litchfield CT. She was the wife of the late William (Bill) Richards. Mrs. Richards was born September 30, 1922 to the late Gertrude and Albert Boyer and was married to Bill for 38 years. While raising their children in Darien, Terry was an active community volunteer. She and Bill devoted 25 years to the Kiwanis Youth Theater, creating a legacy for hundreds of young people participating in the summer musicals who lovingly referred to them as Mom and Pop. Terry retired to Southbury and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, travel, knitting and gardening. In 2006, she moved to Emeritus in Torrington. Terry is survived by five children: Marilyn Richards Haut of Clinton, Barbara Richards DeSimone and husband Phil of Greentown, PA, Meredith Richards Wynne and husband Bill of Stamford, Janet Richards Hauer of Litchfield and Patricia Richards of West Haven; eight grandchildren: Matthew, Adam and Justin Haut, Kristofer and Tyler Wynne, Maxx and Emma Hauer, Tina DeSimone and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, John Tee Richards and sisters Lindley Boyer and Barbara Greer. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on June 29, 2013 at 2:00pm at the First Congregational Church of Litchfield, 21 Torrington Road. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to VNS Hospice, 65 Commercial Boulevard, Torrington, Connecticut 06790 or CLASP Homes, 246 Post Road East, Westport, Connecticut 06880.
