Frances Lambert Obituary

Lambert, Frances E.
Frances E. Lambert, 94, of Falmouth, Massachusetts and lately of Hartford, Connecticut passed away after a brief illness on the evening of February 2, 2014 surrounded by many of her children, grandchildren and people that loved her. She and husband, Matthew J. Lambert, Jr., were married for almost 70 years until his death at age 95 in 2012. She was the third of five beautiful daughters born to John and Rebecca Nagle of Boston. She is survived by her sister, Constance, of Exeter, New Hampshire and her six children- Dr. Matthew J. Lambert III (Donna) of Chicago, IL.; Stephen E. Lambert (Barbara) of Holderness, NH; Cynthia Fischer (Kurt) of Santa Fe, NM; Michael Lambert (Linda) of Exeter, NH; Connie Glass of Alexandria, VA; and Cathy Malloy (Governor Dannel Malloy) of Hartford, CT. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren Matthew IV, Katherine, Carolyn, Craig, Bryce and Jeffrey Lambert; David and Michael Fischer; Alexandra, Natalie, and Hillary Glass; Dannel, Ben, and Sam Malloy; as well as her great-grandchildren, Stephen and Elsbeth Lambert; and Breck, Graham and Lukas Fischer.
She was a woman of uncommon beauty and grace with an incandescent smile and a laugh that captured her enjoyment of the full life she led. She was an avid bridge player, a voracious reader and was actively involved with a book club of friends in Falmouth that she valued a great deal. She had an amazing recall of people and events that frequently put her children to shame and was particularly adept at identifying film stars from long ago when watching late night movies.
She spent time serving as a leader for the Girl Scouts of America and worked for many years as a volunteer in the hospitals in the communities she lived. She was inquisitive and loved to learn every detail of the interesting lives led by her children and grandchildren and was thrilled to have great grandchildren to dote upon.
She was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother but most of all she was a good friend to all who knew her. She had a life that was long and full and (to coin one of her favorite words), "phenomenal!!" She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed but always remembered with deepest affection.
Services will be private. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, February 8, from 2pm to 430pm at the Governor's Residence, 990 Prospect Avenue, Hartford, Connecticut.

Dear Cathy, Dan, Dannel, Ben and Sam,

Kevin and I were deeply saddened when we learned that Mrs. Lambert – loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother - passed away.

We will hold in our memory forever the time we spent with her on Christmas day, 2013. She could discuss anything and she did. I was memorized by her ability - at the age of 94 – to converse and capture your interest, instantly, with every word. And, her laughter was contagious. Most importantly, she encompassed you with all her heart, emanating love.

The tears flow not into a sea but a garden, stimulating growth as she did mentally with her children. Her legacy will live on forever.

Please accept our most heartfelt sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
