Frank Melchionne, 92, lifetime Cove resident, passed away on January 1, 2024. Frank was born on August 18, 1931, in Stamford, CT, to the late Sabino and Alessandra (Borea) Melchionne.
Frank had a diverse career, initially working as a mason before exploring various job opportunities. He later spent 20 years working at Bowater Inc.
Frank was an avid bowler and coached many baseball teams. He played football, basketball, and baseball at Stamford High School. He enjoyed any type of sports, especially the Yankees, Cowboys and held Giants season tickets for many years. Another one of his favorite pastimes was to indulge in a cup of coffee at Cove Convenience every day and engaging in conversations with all he met along his way. His love for socializing and telling a good story was well-known, brought him and all who shared the tale immense joy.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Kathy of 44 years, sister, Gloria Kopec, stepchildren, Peter (Colene) MacDonald, Rick MacDonald, Chris (RoseAnna) MacDonald, and Allison (Adrian Stoian) MacDonald, as well as seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his four nephews, Eddie, Billy, Johnny, and Dennis Kopec, two nieces, Danette Melchionne and Suzette Guastella, and their families.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, along with his brother, Sabino V. Melchionne, brother-in-law, Edward (Bud) Kopec, and great-niece, Christina Kopec.
Frank received his primary education at Cove School and later graduated from Stamford High School.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Frank Melchionne's life and legacy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Frank Melchionne, a coffee-loving, people-meeting extraordinaire, has left an indelible mark on our hearts. May his soul find eternal joy in the great beyond.
