George Angelopoulos Obituary

GEORGE ANGELOPOULOS - passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007. Born August 22, 1930 in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Panagiota Angelopoulos Stamatellos and Constantine Angelopoulos. He was raised by his step father, the late Nicholas Stamatellos. He is also predeceased by his sister, Julia Zorzos.

George loved raising his brothers, nephews and nieces. He is survived by two brothers, Charles Stamatelos of Stamford and his wife, Barbara; their children, Christine and John Galanis; Nicole Stamatelos and Dave Johnson; and Louis Stamatellos of Ridgefield and his wife, Elizabeth; and their children, Nicholas and Aime Stamatellos; and Anna Stamatellos. He also leaves his nephew, Reverend Steven Zorzos and his wife, Pauline; and his nieces, Paula Glenges and her husband, Dean; and Maria Zorzos and her husband, Brett Kubisek.

George had nine great nieces and nephews, Dina Zorzos, Anthony Zorzos, Andrew Galanis, Constantine Galanis, Alexandra Glenges, Antonia Zorzos Kubisek, Michael Zorzos Kubisek, Bram Johnson and Aris Johnson.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT

George was a very special person. He taught me kindness at a very young age. I am happy to have had him in my life. He will always have a special place in my heart and I will pass along the lessons that I learned from his presence to my children. Christine Galanis
