James Mullin Obituary
James A. " Moon" Mullin of Stamford died Sunday, January 9th, 2022 at St. Camillus Health Care Center.
Born July 9, 1930, at Stamford Hospital to the late John A. Mullin and the late Mary Halpin Mullin, he was raised and educated in Old Greenwich and was a graduate of Greenwich High School.
While in high school, he lettered in Hockey and Football and during his teen years was a member of the Binny Brains baseball team who played at Binny Park under the coaching of the late William Hoyt.
He was a lifelong avid sports enthusiast including baseball, football, hockey, horse racing and loved attending sporting events.
His friends know him as "Moon".
He served in the United State Navy, completed storekeepers' school, and was a storekeeper on the USS Salem.
Following military service, he was employed by the Borden Dairy Corporation until they left Stamford and then became a long-time employee of the United State Postal Service in Stamford until his retirement in July 2021.
He was predeceased by his wife Ellen Popp Mullin, his parents, an infant sister Barbara, and one Granddaughter.
He is survived by a daughter, Janet Mullin Schulze of Avondale, Colorado, a son John Mullin of Derby, CT, a sister, Cynthia Mullin McNulty of Fairfield, PA, a second Granddaughter, and three great grandchildren, and a son in law Gregory Schulze.
His son, daughter, and sister wish to offer the sincerest of thank you's to the Geriatric Team at Stamford Hospital for their kindness and professionalism for providing such compassionate care and a special thank you to the staff of St. Camillus for their help, and to "Moon's" friends at the Stamford Post Office who were always there for him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 4pm-7pm at Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT (203)-359-9999. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at St Mary Church 566 Elm Street Stamford, CT. So very sorry to hear about Moon. He and I spoke often after the passing of my husband, Dennis Jones, US Post Office. We were both very fond of him. Dennis considered him family. I will miss our chats. He is now with the wife he spoke of so often and my Dennis. God bless you always.

To the Mullin family you have my deepest love and condolences in the passing of Moon... My brother Dennis Jones Sr worked at the Post Office with him. The two of them were the closest of friends and actually more like family. Dennis passed away December 2019. I believe they are laughing and cracking jokes right now relaxing on the same cloud like they are on break on the dock at the Post Office. Moon was deeply loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

We are all sad to hear of your Dad passing. While it's been some time since I have seen or spoken with Moon, I always enjoyed seeing him around town and talking about sports - especially about the Yankees and Mets.
