Joann Engel Obituary

Engel, Joann
Joann (Mosca) Engel, 67, loving wife of the late Christopher Engel, passed away early Saturday morning, June 7, 2014 surrounded by her family. Born in Stamford on October 11, 1946, the first child of the late Rose (Lasalandra) Mosca and Dominick Mosca, she resided in Pennsylvania for more than 40 years prior to moving to Maryland, where she had resided the last two years. Joann was a positive, loyal, intelligent and loving person who was full of life and reached out to everyone she met. Her family was everything to her. Following her graduation near the top of her class from Stamford Catholic High School (Trinity Catholic), Joann graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she majored in Political Science and minored in French. She spent most of her career in the mortgage industry. For all her vivacity, Joann was a very private person who was, above all else, devoted to her family. She was a proud and fiercely loyal wife, mother and grandmother. Her granddaughters Mackenzie, 7 and Myah, 4 were the center of her world and sources of tremendous joy to her from the moment of their birth. She was a wonderful grandmother. Joann's generous spirit, kindness and love will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Kimberly Engel, of Philadelphia, PA, and Tricia Willis and her husband Michael of Nottingham, MD; her sisters Marilyn Boisseau and husband Mark of Wethersfield, Ct, and Patricia Lecouras of Stamford, and brother Mark Mosca and wife Joanne of Bedford, NY; her two grandchildren; a niece Elizabeth Lecouras, and four nephews, Charles Lecouras, David Boisseau, Peter Mosca and William Mosca, and good friends.
A memorial service and Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St Ursula Church 8801 Harford Rd, Parkville, MD. In lieu of flowers, Joann's family has asked that donations be made in her memory to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital, 401 North Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21287.
