Joseph T. Vento Sr.

0001437346-01-1.jpg JOSEPH T. VENTO SR., 85 of Norwalk, also of Hollywood, FL. Passed away November 1, 2009, peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Norwalk, CT. on February 17, 1924, Joseph was the son of the late Dominick and Margaret Urda Vento. He was educated in local schools and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and the Korean War. He was a retired Norwalk Police Officer, and after his retirement from the police force, worked for many years as a private security guard. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Helen DeLeo. He is also survived by three sons, Joseph T. Vento Jr. of Stamford, Jeffrey A. Vento and wife Tracy of Stamford, and James E. Vento of Westerly, RI. One daughter, Joan E. Frank and husband Andy of Westport. Eight grandchildren, Jason Vento, Zachary, Amy and Tessa Vento, Jayden Vento, and Patrick, Caitlin, and Lauren Frank. A sister, Marjorie Lee and a brother, Edward Vento both of Norwalk. He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Frank and Dominick Vento, Albert Urda, and two sisters Rose Wenzel and Katherine Irwin. Friends may call, Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 669 West Avenue, Norwalk. Internment will be private.
